For Everyday People — Poem by Trey Forbes

I care for you
I know that you loved me
It was the kindest day of my life
When I heard your voice
I wonder if you still Love Me

I am damaged
I look up to Heaven
My thoughts are low to the ground
I live another day in hope that I will see you again

You looked into my heart
Tears of love I have for you
They are not a pool of sorrows
They are a patient continual Love
That is written in the depths of my heart

The waters are calm
They do not spill upon the ground,
I am deeper than the words that I heard from the world
Who told me that I had no place in the form of its glimmering eyes

I am a life that the world thought it never had
I believe in the inspiration of dreams,
They are so bold that they reach to the sky and crumble
They try so desperately to keep their form

I watch them patiently, thinking of you
I never stop believing in your name
You are the language
That formed the world
But the world didn’t see me

So, I had to let go of its words
Which are continual definitions
Of its elusive form, where dreams
Are the lights that Hide in shadows

But there are no dreams to light my way, only you
The continual Hope, an eternal light
The substance of dreams,
The Light of the world

You are the one remaining hope
That gathers the dreams
That are scattered among the broken truths
Of my mind which was broken and bruised
Like you were when you told me
That all of my dreams would come true

But my dreams have become like the lies that shattered them
Glimmering against one another
Shimmering and shining through the depths of my emotion
I lay upon the sacred ground
My body forsaken as the shadow of the life
That no one knew

Love always,
Trey
